Restless Leg Syndrome - RLS Natural Treatments

Restless Leg Syndrome, or RLS, is an increasingly common sleep disorder that is characterized by distinct leg discomfort during sleep. A discomfort that can seemingly only be relieved by frequent movement of the legs. While the cause of RLS is not yet known, it most often occurs in older adults and may possibly be relieved by a reduction in stress. Some women may experience leg restlessness during pregnancy.

The sensations usually occur shortly after going to bed, but it is not uncommon to experience the sensations of RLS at different periods throughout the day. People with extreme Restless Leg Syndrome may notice a reduction in the quality of sleep, leading to daytime sleepiness and possibly anxiety or depression.

Some of the indicating factors of Restless Leg Syndrome include:

* Abnormal sensations in the legs

* An irresistible urge to move the legs

* Relief can only be achieved by moving legs

* Symptoms become worse when resting

* Persistent leg movements during sleep

Today's common treatments for Restless Leg Syndrome are aimed at reducing stress and may include massage, warm baths, and gentle stretching exercises. More and more people are turning to doctor prescribed pharmaceuticals for relief. However, these drugs do not treat the root cause. They only seem to mask the symptoms.
